Michael Hayton KC has been instructed to represent a firm of accountants charged under Section 45 of the Criminal Finances Act 2017.
This is the first prosecution under this section of the legislation and alleges a failure to prevent the facilitation of UK tax evasion offences.
The case, which will proceed to a contested trial, involves alleged fraudulent claims in excess of £16 million of Research and Development Tax Credits and Covid era Bounce Back loans.
