Michael Hayton QC acted on behalf of Dr Mamman, an 85 year old haematologist charged with the gross negligence manslaughter of a patient during a routine medical procedure. The patient died due to her pericardial sac being tested by a needle being used by Dr Mamman to obtain a bone marrow sample from her sternum.
Dr Mamman appeared before Mrs Justice Yip at Manchester Crown Court, having entered a guilty plea at a previous hearing, and received a sentence of 3 years imprisonment.
