Jonathan Lally represents Rochdale Borough Council securing a closure order against a shop found to be selling illicit tobacco
Jonathan Lally represents Rochdale Borough Council securing a closure order against a shop found to be selling illicit tobacco. This was the fifth closure order secured by Mr Lally for Rochdale BC in the last seven months. It forms part of a concerted operation by the Council’s Trading Standards to tackle illegal trading in the borough following the significant rise in such activity in recent years.
The action was taken in conjunction with Greater Manchester Police and is part of wider action being taken throughout the country to tackle organised crime groups and their use of local shops and convenience stores to base their illegal activities. Such activities were reported on recently by the BBC as part of an investigation into the use of local shops for the sale of illicit tobacco and vapes.
