Peter Smith in one of the last H&S Court of Appeal sentencing cases under 2010 Definitive Guidelines
Peter Smith appeared in R (HSE) v. Cargill PLC. Court of Appeal Criminal Division (2016) sentence appeal with leave of Cranston J before the full court on the 21st January 2016. The appeal was as to a sentence of £600,000 following a fatality at the Seaforth Docks, Liverpool. It is probably one of the last cases to be heard under the 2010 Definitive Guidelines before the coming into force of the 2015 Guidelines on the 1st February 2016. Cargill PLC had a turnover in excess of £1.2bn.
