Happy New Year from Deans Court Chambers
Happy New Year to all, we hope you enjoyed the festive break.
During December we visited the Wood Street Mission to deliver two large crates of new toys, books and food donations we collected for local families struggling to make ends meet. It was fantastic to see the amount that had been donated by local firms and members of the public, and to see how hard Wood Street work to support families.
We held our annual Christmas lunch on the 23rd December which gives our current members, former members and staff a chance to celebrate the year together. At the lunch we raised over £1000 for Childflight by raffling a huge cuddly polar bear and a member completed a sprout eating challenge! Childflight, based at Manchester airport, provides flights and holidays for sick and deserving children.Susan Grocott QC, who donated the bear, said “the bear was so big some members wanted to pay more not to win it and carry it home!! It went to a very good home and I was delighted we raised so much for such a worthy cause”.
