Ciaran Rankin and Joseph Hart represent foster parents at Preston Crown Court

Ciaran Rankin was for Mr H who was charged with rape and neglect and Joseph Hart was for Mrs H who was charged with neglect. 

These people had been foster parents in Lancashire for over 15 years. 

One of the children made the complaints after quite a delay.  

It involved trawling through hundreds of social service records and also the mysteries of the female body. 

Medical evidence was called by the prosecution suggesting that despite many rapes of a young girl would not automatically have lost her virginity. 

Both acquitted.
