Sir John Saunders (The Chairman of the Manchester Arena Inquiry) has published Volume 1 of his Report into the terrorist attack which took place on 22nd May 2017 . Between September and December 2020, the Inquiry heard detailed evidence about the security arrangements at the Arena. Volume 1 contains the Chairman’s findings in relation to the adequacy of those arrangements.
Sophie Cartwright QC is instructed as one of Sir John Saunders' Counsel to the Inquiry, instructed by Tim Suter of Field Fisher.
The link below is a video of Sir John Saunders arriving at the hearing with Miss Cartwright QC on Volume 1 'publication day'.
Volume 1 has been published while the Inquiry continues to hear evidence in relation to the emergency response. This evidence will form the subject of Volume 2 of the Report. That evidence is expected to conclude in October. The Inquiry will then turn to consider the radicalisation of the terrorist and whether there were opportunities to stop him in the months leading up to the attack. This evidence will form the basis of the Chairman’s third and final volume of his report.
