Our team of Leading and Junior Counsel are involved in many of the most serious care cases in the North.

We offer particular expertise in cases involving the death and serious injury of a child. We are well used to dealing with complex medical issues including cases of abusive head injury, smothering and overlay, and fabricated or induced illnesses in children. We are experienced in cases of serious sexual abuse and extreme chronic neglect.

Our members regularly act on behalf of parents, local authorities and for children in care proceedings in the High Court and Family Court at all levels of judiciary. We also offer considerable experience at the appellate level.

A number of Counsel within the family team at Deans Court have experience in judicial review and regulatory work within the area of looked-after children and care standards. We advise local authorities on regulatory and cross jurisdictional issues.
