Helen practices in all areas of family law, covering both children and financial matters, as well as the Court of Protection.  She provides her clients with robust and meticulous representation. Both clients and instructing solicitors value her empathetic yet pragmatic approach.  Helen is known for her thorough preparation and effectiveness in complex cases.

Public Law Children

Helen is regularly instructed on behalf of parents, Local Authorities, and Children’s Guardians, and has also represented the Official Solicitor.

She is frequently involved in complex public law cases, including those concerning non-accidental injuries, intricate medical evidence, sexual abuse, and international issues.

She has been led in highly complex cases, including those involving unexplained infant death and fabricated or induced illness.

Her experience in the Court of Protection informs her work in DOLS (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards) proceedings, particularly those involving children transitioning into adult services.

Private Law Children

Helen represents parents, grandparents, and Rule 16.4 Guardians in private law proceedings. 

Within the private law sphere Helen has conducted multiple finding of fact hearings in which serious allegations have been litigated before the court. 

Helen has experience with international relocation cases and applications for temporary leave to remove children from the jurisdiction, including to non-Hague Convention countries.

Family Finance

Helen is instructed in a wide range of financial remedy matters. She has experience in cases involving businesses, third-party interveners, and expert evidence from forensic accountants.

Court of Protection

Helen is instructed by Local Authorities, NHS Trusts, family members, P, and the Official Solicitor in health and welfare proceedings.  She has particular expertise in cases involving the transition from children’s to adult services and regularly advises in matters where public law children proceedings and the Court of Protection intersect.
