Olivia joined chambers in September 2021 after she successfully completed her pupillage under the tutelage of Anna Bentley.
She accepts instructions in the area of Family law in relation to children. As well as practising Family law, Olivia is developing a specialism for Court of Protection practice.
She is a member of the Court of Protection Practitioners Association (CoPPA), a multi-disciplinary organisation which aims to develop and consolidate good practice in the Court of Protection, and in the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Olivia has undertaken training in mediation.
She believes in the importance of championing diversity at the Bar, and Olivia is involved in Slipstream Education as a mentor and a supporter of Bridging the Bar, including volunteering to help where opportunities are available.
Private children
Olivia has a wide range of private law experience. Clients have instructed her at all stages, and this includes:
- Disputes over contact and living arrangements, prohibited steps order and specific issue order applications and non-molestation order applications;
- Acting for parents and children’s guardians appointed under Rule 16.4;
- Acting for parties both alleging and disputing serious allegations of physical, emotional and sexual abuse;
- Having experience of applications in relation to internal relocation, parental alienation, parents with mental health issues and intractable contact disputes.
Public children
Local authorities and respondents party to public law proceedings have regularly instructed Olivia at all stages of proceedings, something in which she has a particular interest.
She has practice experience in:
- Drafting case summaries, thresholds and position statements;
- Cases which involve domestic violence, drug and alcohol misuse and sexual abuse;
- Acting for local authorities and respondents in cases involving complex issues e.g., non-accidental injury of children, chronic neglect and deprivation of liberty safeguards.
