Sonny Flood

Sonny joined Deans Court Chambers in April 2019 following successful completion of pupillage under the supervision of Peter Rothery.

Sonny specialises in both children (public law and private law) and financial remedy work.

A calm and confident advocate, Sonny gives firm and reasoned advice based on careful preparation, rigorous forensic analysis and a keen eye for detail.  These attributes contribute to a reassuring and persuasive style in Court and allow Sonny to build strong working relationships with clients of all backgrounds when dealing with sensitive subject material.

Sonny is instructed at all stages of children law proceedings, both in the Family Court and in the Family Division of the High Court.  He is regularly instructed to appear in lengthy finding of fact and welfare hearings (both in public and private law), involving non-accidental injuries, alienating behaviours, domestic abuse, alcohol and substance misuse and international relocations.

Sonny’s financial remedy practice involves instructions all the way from preliminary conferences to FDAs, FDRs and Final Hearings, as well as interim applications.

Outside of Court, Sonny has a young family with whom he loves spending time and is a keen sportsman."
