Our team of Barristers offer expertise as advisers and advocates in all areas of Court of Protection Law.

The team undertake general best interest work within the Court of Protection including cases involving all aspects of decision making in relation to care, residence, medical treatment and contact.

It also undertakes the full range of work involving finance and property affairs in the Court of Protection and has particular expertise in relation to the management of finance in personal injury litigation involving loss of capacity and catastrophic brain injury.

The team deals regularly with complex cases involving DOLS and deprivation of liberty, breach of the European Convention on Human Rights, enforcement of orders of the Court of Protection and all aspects of capacity.

The team also specialises in cases involving the interaction of the Court of Protection with parallel legislation (eg NHS & Community Care Act 1990; Children Act 1989 and Mental Health Act 1983) with a particular focus on the role of children within the Court of Protection and transitional care planning.
