Mara is a member of the Business and Property team, having successfully completed pupillage under the supervision of Jonathan King in September 2025. She accepts instructions for both Claimants and Defendants and welcomes drafting work on various matters within her practice areas.

During the course of her pupillage, Mara has observed proceedings in the County Court and High Court on matters such as property damage, contractual interpretation, partnership disputes and professional negligence claims. She has experience dealing with contract, property, and land disputes, particularly in relation to property damage and leaseholder claims.

Mara is keen to continue developing her practice in the property and land area, as well as expanding more into commercial matters. She has dealt with a range of application hearings and welcomes instructions on these. She has a thorough and conscientious approach to cases, liaising with solicitors and clients to obtain the best outcome in their individual circumstances.

Prior to joining Deans Court Chambers, Mara worked for a year as an independent advisor, providing advice and representation to those going through internal disciplinary and complaints processes within a private institution.

Property damage

Since joining Deans Court, Mara has had the opportunity to act for Claimants and Defendants on a range of property damage cases, including defective building work, water ingress/flooding, and nuisance claims. These have included issues of Riparian ownership, liability of contractors, and duty of care.

Contract

Mara has experience drafting pleadings relating to breach of contract claims, as well as being instructed on trials for breach of contract, commercial contracts and sale of goods matters.

She has been instructed on matters by both private individuals and companies, including well-known retailers.

Land

Mara enjoys a busy and varied property and land practice. From lease interpretation and service charge disputes, Mara has appeared in a range of matters, most recently in a successful dismissal of an appeal before a Circuit Judge relating to unpaid service charges from a leaseholder.

She has developed her drafting work, advising on leaseholder disputes, rights of way, and prescriptive rights.

Business and commercial

Over the course of her pupillage, Mara has been instructed on business rates disputes, winding up petitions and bankruptcy proceedings, and on disputes relating to business ventures.
