Jasmin specialises exclusively in Family Law and focuses her practice on Children Act proceedings (private law) and Family Law Act proceedings.

Within Children Act (private law) proceedings and Family Law Act proceedings, Jasmin has experience of dealing with:

  • all types of section 8 orders (child arrangement orders, prohibited steps orders and specific issue orders);
  • allegations of domestic abuse, fabricated sexual abuse, substance misuse and alienating behaviours;
  • schooling disputes, name changes and relocation matters and
  • applications pursuant to the Family Law Act 1996 (non-molestation orders and occupation orders).

Jasmin has secured: dismissals of applications to appeal, a termination of parental responsibility and findings of domestic abuse, along with rebuttals of allegations of domestic abuse.

She is regularly instructed by applicants and respondents, representing parents and children (via a children’s guardian) at initial direction hearings and multi-day fact-finding hearings, through to contested final hearings.

Jasmin regularly represents clients who require the assistance of an interpreter and those who are vulnerable, due to mental ill-health, traumatic brain injury or otherwise. She has experience of taking instructions from the Official Solicitor, for the purposes of acting on behalf of clients who lack capacity. Jasmin has been praised by several of her lay clients for her composed manner at court and considers that her personable, yet professional approach is well-suited to vulnerable clients.

Jasmin accepts instructions on a private and publicly funded basis.

Prior to practising on the Northern Circuit, Jasmin was a member of a Civil and Family Team at a Chambers on the Midland Circuit, where she successfully completed her pupillage under the supervision of Deputy District Judge Carter (now His Honour Judge Carter) and obtained tenancy.

Prior to undertaking pupillage, Jasmin worked as a paralegal in serious injury at the largest ‘full service’ law firm in the UK. She handled and assisted on multi-track cases of the utmost severity, concerning brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, orthopaedic injuries and pain conditions, namely Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. The majority of cases reached a six-figure settlement sum. She also managed claims against the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) under the CICA Scheme 2012.

Jasmin studied Law at The University of Manchester and graduated with First-Class Honours, scoring in the top 10% of her academic year group. She completed the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) at Manchester Metropolitan University and was awarded a BPTC Scholarship based on her achievements, interests and experience. She was called to the Bar in 2014 by The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn.

I just want you to know how grateful I am for everything you have done. Thank you for all your efforts for me today and for the last few months, I couldn’t have done this without you!”
