Elinor specialises in Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and Inquest work

She benefits from a background in serious injury. Before coming to the Bar, Elinor assisted Gerard McDermott KC in a range of catastrophic (brain and spinal cord injury) work. She has a keen interest in cases involving disputed expert evidence and delivers training in this area. 

Elinor acts for both Claimants and Defendants at fast, intermediate and multi-track level. 

Personal Injury

Elinor accepts instructions in all areas of personal injury, successfully representing both Claimants and Defendants. She has a busy court practice, routinely acting in trials, application hearings and case management and costs hearings. 

Elinor accepts instructions for all types of written work, including drafting pleadings, opinions and advices.

Recent cases of interest have included:

  • Fatal accident/dependency claims;
  • CICA claim involving sexual assault and psychiatric injury;
  • Stress at work;
  • Psychiatric Injury (secondary victim);
  • Occupational disease;
  • Burns/scarring;
  • Post-concussion syndrome/mild TBI. 
Clinical Negligence

Elinor regularly acts in clinical negligence cases on both the Claimant and Defendant side. 

Recent cases of interest have included: 

  • Delayed diagnosis (cancer, multiple sclerosis, congestive heart failure)
  • Failure to detect retinal detachment leading to permanent loss of vision;
  • Failure to detect retained placenta resulting in a haemorrhage and chronic pain;
  • Surgical negligence;
  • Dental injuries;
  • Birth injuries. 
Inquests

Elinor has a growing inquest practice and accepts instructions both on behalf of families and other interested parties.
