Until retirement from the Bar in March 2024 I had practised as King’s Counsel at Deans Court Chambers in Manchester and Old Square Chambers in London.  I took Silk in 1987 and have appeared in many high profile and substantial cases.

I served as a Recorder of the Crown Court and a Recorder of the Technology Court over a total period of 15 years.  For more than 30 years I have had a keen interest in ADR in all its forms and was founding Chairman of the Northern Arbitration Association. I am an accredited Mediator and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  I have acted as Arbitrator and Mediator and undertaken Early Neutral Evaluations and Mini-Trials.

My practice at the Bar involved complex civil litigation and has included almost all forms of civil work including contractual, insurance, personal injury, professional negligence, construction and environmental cases.  I have been arbitrator or mediator in matters concerning:-
