Abigail joined chambers as a tenant in September 2025 following her successful pupillage under the supervision of Virginia Hayton.

Crime

Since joining Deans Court, Abigail has developed a busy and varied practice, which includes prosecuting and defending cases in the Magistrates Court, Youth Court and Crown Court. 

Abigail has conducted an array of criminal cases including serious violence, drugs offences, sexual offences and dishonesty offences. 

Prior to coming to the Bar, Abigail worked within Liverpool Law Clinic where she offered pro bono legal services, and worked within HMP Liverpool where she provided support to prisoners and families. This has provided her with insight into the effect the prison system has and she was regularly advising and drafting on legal issues. 

Regulatory

Abigail has been instructed in Teacher Regulation Authority and Social Work England cases. 

She is also instructed in taxi licensing and private prosecutions for local authorities including health and safety and education matters.

  • R v C

    Regulatory

    Defended a teacher accused of 7 sexually motivated allegations against students. Cross examined one student and hearsay argument for second student. 6 out of 7 of the allegations were found not proved. Not found to be unacceptable professional conduct nor that it would bring profession into disrepute. No prohibition order made. 

  • R v A & A

    Crime

    Successfully defended two defendants who were charged with stalking. The prosecution offered no evidence after the cross examination of the first witness. 

  • R v M

    Crime

    Defended in an legal argument regarding the imposition of disproportionate SHPO requirements. This required written and oral submissions of which the judge found in favour of the defence. 

  • R v M

    Crime

    Defendant charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Successfully submitted to the prosecution that mobile phone use could not be proved at time of incident. Defendant sentenced for causing serious injury by careless driving and received suspended sentence. 

  • R v M

    Crime

    Defending at sentence where Defendant had 46 previous convictions for like offences. Defendant received a suspended sentence for TWOC and dangerous driving. 

  • R v C

    Crime

    Defended a police officer who pleaded guilty to 2 offences of speeding at 65+ mph in a 30mph zone. Following mitigation no disqualification imposed. 

  • R v J

    Crime

    Defended in 4 counts of sexual assault trial in the Youth Court.

  • R v H

    Crime

    Defended in a case where the defendant was accused of being in charge of vehicle with excess alcohol. After it was accepted by police that they did not observe the defendant sat in the vehicle and he was not the registered keeper, prosecution offered no evidence.
