Kate has built up a busy practice in family law, she specialises in all matters relating to children and their welfare, in public and private law proceedings, in placement and adoption proceedings, and in matters arising out of the Court’s inherent jurisdiction. Kate represents Local Authorities, parents, relatives, interveners and children.

Kate completed a general common law pupillage in London. In 1999, Kate came to the Northern Circuit and joined Deans Court Chambers in 2015.

Kate has much experience of public law cases involving allegations of serious non-accidental injury and complex medical evidence, allegations of sexual abuse and chronic neglect, and mental health issues. Most of Kate’s work is as a senior junior, however, she is led in particularly complex High Court matters from time to time.

The developing jurisdiction of the Court of Protection and the law as it affects vulnerable adults and young people is also of interest to Kate.

Kate is an industrious and experienced practitioner with a personable, no-nonsense approach to clients; her attention to detail and likeable demeanour appeal to lay and professional clients alike and she puts this to good effect both in and outside of the courtroom. She is regarded as a practitioner who is responsive to her client’s needs and delivers sound advice in an approachable and down to earth manner.
