Michael Jones Joins Deans Court Chambers

Deans Court Chambers are delighted to announce the arrival of family practitioner Michael Jones, who has joined from 15 Winckley Square Chambers.

Michael was called to the Bar in 2008 and prior to gaining pupillage spent time working in the legal departments of several large local authorities where he specialised in the area of public law Children Act proceedings.

Michael has developed a busy practice in which he regularly appears on behalf of local authorities, parents, and children’s guardians. He has experience in dealing with cases involving complex medical issues, injuries to children, sexual abuse, extensive domestic violence and cases in which children have been called to give evidence in respect of allegations made against a parent.

Michael accepts instructions in private law Children Act proceedings and has represented both parents and guardians in cases involving issues such as alleged implacable hostility and removal from jurisdiction.

He has a particular interest in cases involving an international element and has appeared in a number of cases in the Family Division involving both jurisdictional disputes and the transfer of public law proceedings pursuant to Article 15, Brussel II Revised. He regularly advises local authorities in relation to jurisdictional issues both during proceedings and at the pre-proceedings stage.

Michael also advises on and acts in claims brought under the Human Rights Act for local authorities, parents and children.
